We are glad to be ready to carry out the necessary investigations, but would like to point out that the investigation for succinic acid is not a reliable indicator of Baltic amber. Nevertheless we consider it possible, from the chemical examination and the external findings, to give a correct judgement. We therefore leave it to you to send us the material, if necessary through the good offices of the local French Consulate, in order to avoid unnecessary customs difficulties in doing so.
