at latest be of the ending XIIIth c. but not of the so-called Myc. III C period or early Iron Age. I wonder if after Dik.'s death the files of the Combined expedition which you told me chave not been found in your archives with our my correspondance with D. have been returned to your direction. If so, you will find there my letters in which I tried to convince him to the verify his conclusions and to accept a control dig which he refused. I also asked him to set aside some samples of the stratigraphical layers in order to permit later vérifications. He took them all out and left only on the bottom some tiny rests of floor which have so quickly be made useless by corrosion. I had myself to wait after 1949 until 1971 to know what exactly D. had found in the so-called temple area in the middle of my own excavations. You will notice also that he nowhere refers in his long final report to the stratigraphical observations made over the road no 4 at a distance of only a few meters in the Batiment 18 in Enk.-Al. I and does not try to explain the different dating adopted by him which finally mislead Catling and others which also ignore the former publications.
