Dear Colleague, Your letter of 2 March only reached me here this morning. Agreed for Friday 31; I hope moreover to have the opportunity to indicate to you the sense of my intervention before delivering it. - For Kition, try to find a moment on Friday 17 so that my wife can be part of it. She leaves again as early as Monday 20 at 8 h 30 for Rhodes to celebrate the 70th birthday of a very dear friend. And I must set off at 12 h 10 for Damascus via Byr., returning only on Thursday 23 March towards evening at Nicosia. Failing Friday 17 March, I could then go with you on Friday 24, but alone without my wife. So see what will be possible. Moreover, I must confess to you that it displeases me deeply that I must be honoured on the 19th and speak of the 27th to 1 April Mycenaeans with you and our colleagues at Nic. while a man whom I love x is fighting for the independence of his country. I would prefer to mount the barricade behind him. Yours sincerely C F A Schaeff.

x Makarios
