October 30th, 1964.
Dear Director,
My plans had to be altered. We have found here during excavations in the small palace of Ugarit an enormous royal tomb entirely plundered preceded of by a funerary chamber with a entrance with columns & full of vases, some of them mycen. and of an hitherto unknown style of the late XIIIth c. This excavations has to be ended before the rains start & I have therefore to prolong my stay here and unfortunately to cut out my Cyprus plans. - I am coming over with my wife by the Bernina arriving Famagusta Nov. 14 th as I told you & have hope to see you, for M. Nicolaou informed me that you have postponed your Paris journey. - I then will talk with you over my 1965 plans, when Enkomi excavation will be resumed on a much bigger scale. With kind regards from us both to Mrs. Karageorghis Yours sincerely C F A Schaeffer.
