La Chaumiere, Fréland, Ht Rhin, le 25. VIII. 64.
Dear Direktor, thank you very much for your letter of Aug. 12th. I am very grateful to you for having looked over the starting of the construction at Enkomi & allowed your foreman to have an eye on the work. If I have insisted that a local maçon may be given the work, it was that I wanted my workmen from Enkomi to be employed for which I shall not have much other work this year & to whom I am attached. A letter from M. Lapierre received today, gives me assurance that this aim is achieved by your arrangement to take a Nicosia contractor, who, with exception of his foremen, will take lokal labour. I am grateful to you for having arranged things in that way, in the best way for the expedition. There was not no other meaning in my action & I hope you did not misunderstand me. - I am glad that the Landrover has safely passed winter in the garage. I have asked M Johnstone who brought the car back to Enkomi from Syria to fetch it beginning of September for our work at Ras Shamra where we are short of one car. Please hand him over the keys & give instructions that he may take the car out. — For the change
