Dear Professor Schaeffer,

You must have been surprised to receive my "official" letter of some days ago. In fact I was asked by Mr. Dikaios to hand over the keys to him, as Chief Antiquities Officer. I beg you not to show any grievance at all this, just ignore it. One day I shall explain the situation. – Masson has informed me that you intend to publish a separate volume for Enkomi-Alasia in the form of the Ugaritica Corpus. If this is so I shall bring up to date my notes on the Mycenaean vases for this volume. – You may be interested to hear that when you visit Cyprus in 1963 P.D. will have retired (summer of 1963). – Needless to say that I was not supposed to write to you any details about the above mentioned "affair". I am sure your silence will be the best and most elegant answer.
