vated this year . My intention is to clear the whole perimeter on both sides doing each season a part , spending the rest for work inside the town . - On the north wall , pending your Department has finished its work there , I shall only work on the contact zone of wall W & the extrémité of wall N in order to get the "corner". There is an isolated old test from D.k. which I will not touche at present, pending we discussed the matter on the spot. As Forrer for the organisation of its work is anxious to get the help of Michael with whom he works well together & who also serves as interpreter, I would be grateful to lend his services to our expedition beginning September if possible. (Forrer informs you of his exact arrival in the 1st week of that month). The cleaning of some Ras Shamra bronzes having not been satisfactory , I would like that the cleaning of the bronze statuettes (Teshoub & bull) no 1 and 47 of the inventory and the fragment of a sickle (no 16) is also undertaken by Plenderleith. I shall hand over the lot to the British Embassy here this week, as I leave for Switzerland on Monday & fly over from there directly to the Cambridge Congress & London. I hope you agree.

Yours sincerely C F A Schaeffer.
