9th February, 1973

Dear Professor Schaeffer,

Thank you very much for your letter of 5th February which I read very carefully. Though it is a pity that we shall not have the pleasure of honouring you in 1974 I quite understand your reasons and hope that I shall still be in this post in 1980 to do it.

Next October I shall have the opportunity to be in Paris (en route for London where I have been invited to give the Mortimer Wheeler Lecture for 1973). I proposed to M. Dupont-Sommer to stop in Paris and read a short paper about the sacred gardens' recently discovered in the sacred area of Kition. I hope to see you then in Paris if you will not be abroad.

With all good wishes for you and Madame Schaeffer from my wife and myself.

I am sending you an offprint of my article on the gardens of Kition, as you asked. I hope to be in Paris then. Yours very much, Vassos Karageorghis"
