Dear Mr Curator,

I thank you for your letter of 9 August received in Alsace during an absence in Germany on the Upper Danube, where one has discovered Greek imports and from the Eastern Mediterranean, for which one wished to have my opinion. The importation is undeniable and Mediterranean influences go back as far as the 12th c. before our era. —

I am pleased that you have kindly authorised me to take to the laboratory of the Röm. Germ. Zentralmuseum directed by Prof. Hundt the statue of the god with the ingot to complete its conservation treatment. I specify that I will assume all the costs that will result from this work. I arrive on 9 October on the Ausonia at Beirut and will leave with the same ship which will call at Famagusta on 25 October between 7 and 18 hours which will allow me to come and see you at Nicosia and to take delivery of this precious bronze. — Well understood, I will see you already at the beginning of October when I come to examine with Mr Pelon the programme of research at Enkomi-Alasia.
