Dear Professor Schaeffer,
Thank you very much for your letter in which you announce the subject of your communication. I shall start printing the summaries of the communications for early circulation. I hope yours will reach me in time.
I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to you with regard to the manuscript of your communication to the First International Congress of Cypriot Studies. As you may remember your original manuscript contained quite a number of pencil corrections and additions made by you. The printer, for whom French is not a language with which he is familiar, asked us to produce a clear typescript, which we did - I went through it to see that all your additions and corrections were correctly rendered. Having had a true copy we thus destroyed the original. I can assure you that what we have printed is a true copy of what you gave us. So I would ask you again, offering all my apologies, to let us print the text. The burden of the editorship is over and above my normal duties - quite heavy already - so I could not keep all the documents until the very end.
With all good wishes.
Yours as ever,
