the Mayence laboratory would consider itself rewarded for its work if in exchange it were permitted to mould the main objects of the Byzantine treasure. of Lambousa, whose study is of interest for the Central Museum of Mayence. – You know that, since then, the laboratory has also lent its assistance for the rescue of very important also and very fragile bronzes from the royal tombs of Salamis. I would therefore be very grateful if you could obtain from the archaeological authorities of your Government the permission to entrust the Mayence laboratory with the Lambousa objects for moulding; copies could no doubt be made on this occasion for Cyprus. I present and very sincerely recommend this request. In agreement with you, I will also entrust the new epigraphic tablet from Enkomi-Alasia which has just come out from the ground during our 20th excavation campaign at the same laboratory for restoration and moulding. The collaboration with this research centre seems to me very desirable for the future. Please accept, Sir Director, the expression of my distinguished and devoted sentiments. C F A Schaeffer.
