le 24 Août 1969.

Dear Dr Nicolaou, vous m'avez fait plaisir and helped me very much with the good photographs of the detailes of the statuette figuring the ingot god. I am now convinced that he was wearing greaves reaching from a bit under the knees to just above the feet as it should be. That increases the value of the monument which will be definitely published in Enkomi-Alasia II now being prepared. I have been in Mainz a fortnight ago to fetch the rest of the Enkomi bronzes from the "wellfind" of 1967. They have been marvellous well been restored. I shall bring them back to your Museum when I arrive for the digging season of this autumn, towards Oct. 26th, for white The cost of the entire work is well over 50 000 Mark! And I am embarrassed, even if they do not ask to get all the money back. Some compensation should have been given them. We shall talk the problem over with you & Dr Karageorghis when I am back in Cyprus - I hope the summer was not too hot in your country. Here July & Aug. have been exceptionally beautiful and hot, but not to the point to embarrass you. Please give my best regards and respects to Mrs Nicolaou and believe me, dear Dr. Nicolaou, yours very sincerely C.F.A. Schaeffer
