La Chaumière, Fréland, 26. VIII / 65, à partir du 1er Sept. Le Castel Blanc St. Germain en Laye. Dear Director, Thank you for your letter of Aug 16, received after a short season of excavations in the mountains. I cannot change the plans of my this years campagne à Enkomi. Mr & Mrs Johnstone will arrive on Monday 30th and proceed the next day to Enkomi to open camp, arrange with Mr & Mme Kuss the old & new houses, met the Landrover "en route" & prepare everything to begin the excavations probably Monday 6th. Sept. I am very sorry that you tell me that Marinos is not available before the 15th that will enormously complicate our task with which he was associated first as workman the since 1946, than as foreman ever since and before he was admitted to your departement. And if he cannot assist us more than two or three weeks, I may be obliged to cut down the increased effort I wished to make this year & the following years at Enkomi. - I still hope you can find a way to avoid that. - Thank you for having ordered for us 25 small picks. - M. Johnstone & M. Kuss will call at your departement on arrival. - I am glad to know your wife & children in France & well. - I wish you a good journey to Austria. Yours very sincerely C F A Schaeffer.
