LCII-III tomb at Larnaca (in the heart of Old Citium). The results up to now are very encouraging : An alabaster vase decorated with incisions, a gold band, a good number of Myc. vases, including a fragm. chariot crater. And we have not reached the bottom layers yet! But what is important is the fact that Citium, like all the coastal centres of the South, had a L.C. culture, and the stories about th its foundation by Sidonians etc must now be reconsidered. I am happy to disclose to you that when I was in a desperate position with Megaw offering me only £50 to excavate, the Archbishop, to whom I sent a message through a Minister friend, sent me immediately £100. I take this as a good omen!
My wife and I send to both of you our kindest regards
Yours sincerely Vassos Karageorghis
