First discovery of Mycenaean IIIC1 were. Dikaios does not claim this for our compound (with the exceptions quoted) but for Enkomi as a whole. Naturally he is not in a position to discuss in this context the specimens found in your areas.
Historical conclusions. I agree that in a preliminary report these should be very summary, and made with adequate reservations. What Dikaios has written is I believe longer than he intended when he started writing. As it stands it is really a first draft which, as time did not permit, has not yet undergone the pruning and revision in the light of expert criticism to which all writing of this sort should be subjected. But whether or not these conclusions do appear in a preliminary report they merit examination in the light of already published accounts of the period, in which events he mentions such as the Achaean colonization are regarded as accepted facts. He has attempted to dovetail into the generally accepted framework of the history of the period the more detailed picture of 12th century life at Enkomi- Alasia which his material presents. It is an attempt on which your views would be most welcome.
Incidentally Dikaios does not attribute his [illegible] compound to Achaeans pressed out by the Dorian invaders of Greece, as stated on your p.8.
