Dear friend,

Just a word to tell you that I must prepare at the beginning of the month next my report on archaeological activity in Cyprus for the year 1949 for the "Fasti Archeologici" and I would be very grateful if you would have the kindness to send me a note on your excavations at Engomi with some photographs if possible. I am working constantly on my Engomi material and especially on the pottery to establish the chronology of the building. As Mr Megaw has written, the building cannot be older than the end of the 13th. Believe me I am doing everything to finish quickly but I still have to go through the minimum of material (which is of a tremendous volume) in order to reach conclusions certain. I hope therefore that you will be indulgent and will forgive this delay. But what can one do? I work very hard and all the staff do nothing else. If you want to send your the material to the printer, I will have no objection that you leave my contribution at the end of the volume.
