4 April 1949

Mr Director of "Le Monde", Paris.

Dear Sir,

As usual, I gave your correspondent a summary of my communication to the Académie, a copy of which is enclosed. The note specifies that the identification of the city discovered by me at Enkomi in Cyprus with Alasia, capital of the kingdom of Cyprus in the second millennium, is credited to Mr Dussaud and that the statue of the Apollo Alasiotes was discovered by my assistant Mr Dikaios.

The note inserted in Le Monde of 3 April attributes these two discoveries to me. I would be grateful if you would have it corrected by the enclosed note, for which I thank you in advance.

Please accept, Sir, the expression of my distinguished sentiments.
