Sir,

By letter of 19 November 1948, Mr Claude Schaeffer, Director of the French Archaeological Mission, asked me to forward to you the sum of ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN POUNDS STERLING AND FIFTEEN SHILLINGS ( £ 118.15.0) on behalf of the French Archaeological Mission.

In response to the wish of my distinguished compatriot, I have the honour to enclose a cheque no. C9/401577 for £ 118.15.0 drawn on the BARCLAYS BANK (D,C.& O).

I would be most grateful if you would be so kind as to send me a receipt for this sum so that I may forward it to Mr Cl. Schaeffer.
