Arslan Tépé-Maltya (Turquie) September 26. 1948.
Dear Megaw,
Thank you for your letter of 22nd of July and 21st of August. My departure from St. Germain and excavations here have delayed my reply.- I prefer to wait with the removal of the dump at Engomi until I return there. I think I can do it for cheaper than the proposition obtained by George. - Thank you for the trouble you have taken. I got also the press cutting for which I am grateful. Its makes me great pleasure to see another franco-british collaboration in being.
I shall return the Engomi hoard as soon as I can take the matter in hand. Indeed your suggestion to wait for another find of the sort in order to avoid splitting is the best.
But I don't know yet what will be my plans for this years season. But I hope soon to see clear in the near future if not to meet you directly after my excavations here. All is going well and I have interesting find, but modest as usual in Anatolia. I am staying here for another month before proceeding to Beyrouth where I shall meet my wife who staid behind until october to be with the childre n during the vacances. - Very best regards to your wife
Yours sincerely
