Le Castel Blanc, 14 Turgot Street, St.Germain-en-Laye, (Seine et Oise). 10 August 1948.

Dear friend,

I hope to reach you at Oxford, having vainly tried to obtain your address in Paris.

The deposit of bronzes found at Enkomi last year has since been cleaned at the Louvre and I should like to ask you whether you could possibly, before your departure, proceed to the division of this group. The objects are at the Louvre conservation department, either with Mr Parrot, or with Mr Nougayrol.

I have made a proposal for dividing it into two lots, lot A containing as its main piece the sceptre, lot B having as its main piece the axes and tools in bronze. Naturally you are free to arrange the division differently.

If you consider you cannot make the division in Paris, I shall, on my return, arrange its dispatch by diplomatic bag via Beirut to Cyprus. If, on the other hand, you have been able to make the division, I shall send you only the lot kept by Nicosia, after photographing it. In case you wish to take this lot away directly, I shall ask Mr Nougayrol to have my photographer make a good photograph of the bronzes which are to leave.

My address until 25 August is at the Hôtel de Pardigon, Cavalaire-sur-Mer, (Var). After this date you can reach me by air care of the French Embassy in Ankara.

I wish you a good end to your holiday in France and look forward to seeing you again in Cyprus, as well as Madame Dikaios to whom please convey my respects.

Mr P. Dikaios, c/o Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
