13th June 1949
Dear Megaw,
Many thanks for your letter of May 30th and all the useful arrangements you have made before leaving the island.
I shall arrange to have the work started before I leave Enkomi for a week or so to Beyrouth and Damascus. I intend to continue first our chantier Nord and to try to connect it with Dikaios' area in order to complete the plans of the buildings. In general, now we must first dig the ground left between the three main areas investigated until now, before starting elsewhere. Thus we shall get a notion of the layout of the town and can then orientate more easily further research.
I shall take with me the inventories for the division.
I am looking forward to seeing you in Oxford or in London as it suits your plans best. I could meet you on the 27th in Oxford (address and telephone St.John's College), on the 28th in London from where I return to Paris the next day or on the 30th. My address there is c/o Prof. H.S. Hanstord, 29 Brunswick Gardens, Kensington, W.8. Tel: Bayswater 3326; if no reply you can also leave a message for me with Sir John Forsdyke, director of the British Museum, W.C.1. tel. Museum 4110.
The I.L.N. have acknowledged receipt of the Enkomi article and will inform me shortly of the date of publication.
Please give my regards to Mrs Megaw.
Yours sincerely,
M. A.H.S. Megaw, Director of Antiquities of Cyprus, c/o Dr. E.C. Megaw, 2 The Mount Heath St. London N.W.3.
