Dear Schaeffer,
Thanks for your letter of 21st February to Dikaios and myself. I am glad we are now all agreed about the publication plan, and look forward to your estimate of the cost of printing [illegible].
Dikaios, who will be writing separately, is starting this week on the clearing up of the matters he left unfinished when digging stopped. I am having a session with him there on the architectural remains on Friday. He says he will have his report for the Academy ready in time for communication on April 1st. The contribution for the Illustrated London News joint article will follow, but he fears that time is too early a date for him to get his notes contributions ready as he plans to resume his digging in April and May.
He will return your plan with his areas marked and send a photo of the house. He is considering the relationship of the statue to the god Reshef mentioned in the Tell-el-Amarna letters as visiting Alasia with a pestilence.
I am glad to have your contribution of £100.
For the small site-house of which I sent you plans as I have been able to find the £100 which is needed, as our object is to complete it. The work is now being put in hand, not on the site itself, where I feel it would be much exposed to heat and dust, but in the more salubrious area on the equipment which you suggested last year. I should like to go ahead also with the separate watchman's hut at a distance from the house, as you propose, but will first have to look into our finances again to see what we can add to your £50.
