W. W. Forrer c/o Cyprus Museum Nicosia | Nicosia, 2 February 1950 Cyprus
Dear Mr Schaeffer,
[written sideways: rép.Cf] I arrived safely by air at Nicosia and I have settled in the European boarding house. I have worked for 8 days at the museum to finish the drawings of tomb 2 at Enkomi (in pencil - I am going to ink them in at Beirut so as not to unnecessarily prolong my stay in Nicosia.)
Since yesterday I have been installed at the Kumacilar-Khan where Michael and Georgios are busy repairing the vessels from tomb 11 according to the instructions in your letter to Mr Megaw.
Do you want me to also draw the vessels of tomb 11 not drawn by Mr Pironin?
There are about 280 vessels from tomb 5, that is to say about 240 to draw, 40 vessels are duplicates. It will take 4 weeks for this work.
A few days ago I received your letter. I will then contact Mr Lapierre to arrange a meeting with Mr Stylianou (Collection of Bronzes from Enkomi).
Mr Petrakides, and the antiquities dealer of Larnaca, was yesterday at the museum and told me that he has had received only £ 40 for the cylinders bought from him. He made me a statement after which you had bought from him:
| 1 one cylinder from a group of three for | ||
| £ 50, that is to say at £ 17 each | = | £ 17 |
| and 2 two cylinders from a group of two for | ||
| £ 32, that is to say at £ 16 each | = | £ 32 |
| Total | = | £ 49/-/- |
| of which he has received only £ 40/-/- . |
