27th May, 1952

Dear Dr. Schaeffer,

Thank you for your letter of 11th May about the Enkomi sherds which are returning here with Pironin. We will advise the Customs and hope he has no trouble.

I note that the loan of the other sherds to be published in your next volume on Enkomi will require extension and I shall arrange that nearer the expiry date of the present loan.

[?51/] The cost of the little axes is £16.5.0, which can be met from the balance of your deposit - £19.14.2, as already reported in my letter of 16th April.

George reports that your other tools stored here are in need of some attention especially sharpening and replacement of broken handles, which will cost about £6. If you would like these attended to before you arrive, we will go ahead assuming that your deposit will be reimbursed in due course.

We have not yet received either consignment of the sheets of Enkomi I, but I imagine the delay may be connected with the cancellation of air services owing to shortage of aviation spirit. I look forward to their arrival.

With our kind regards to you both Yours sincerely,

Dr.C.F.A.Schaeffer, M.A.,D.Litt., Le Castel Blanc, A.H.S. Megaw. 14, Rue Turgot, St.Germain-en-Laye.
