Dear Dr. Schaeffer,
Thank you for your letter of 15th November from which I was glad to learn of your new successes in the current season at Ras Shamra.
I now forward, two fair copies of the Memorandum concerning the dissolution of the joint-expedition. This is as the draft which you saw with the exception that the word "only" has been omitted after "excavate" in clause 2. This should have been done before for the reason given in my previous letter (under "para.3 line 2"). There is of course no intention to excavate elsewhere than in our two areas, but the retention of the "only" would seem to deny us the right to extend our areas slightly where called for to clarify what has already been found, as you agreed we should do under the modern road.
I have heard from Ashmole and everything is now ready for the exhibition of the bowl and the press announcement as soon as the date of publication of your article in the I.L.N. is decided.
With kind regards to Mme. Schaeffer,
Yours sincerely,
