DEPARTMENT OF ANTIQUITIES, NICOSIA.
17th February, 1951
Dear Schaeffer,
Thank you for your letter of 7th February.
The photograph and drawings of the side-spouted jug are all of one vessel. It is a very fine piece and it is a great pity the decoration is so faint.
I note what you say about the archaeological news items and Dikaios will be sending you in due course what he will prepare about Enkomi for Fasti Archaeologici 1950, but this is unlikely to appear before 1952, when your volume will perhaps already be published. There is nothing else in view at present.
We have been tackling the RAF again lately on behalf of the Myrtou and Kouklia expeditions and at the same time asked for new photos of Enkomi and some other places. Unfortunately the local station still lacks the necessary resources and when they approached their Canal Zone Headquarters they agreed to send a photographic reconnaissance aircraft over provided we paid some £800! So at present the prospects are not good, but we have the matter continually in view and will lose no opportunities.
With all good wishes.
