Dear Schaeffer,

I am afraid I have neglected my correspondence but you may imagine why! I was so busy getting the Enkomi contribution ready that everything else had to wait. I hope you will have received it by now. I need not tell you how sorry I was not to have prepared the thing earlier as you wished. But the material was so abundant that I could not reach any conclusions earlier. I simply had to examine the sherds and handle them, a thing which takes time. Many nights I lost my sleep or dreamed of sherds! But now everything is over (at least for the present) and the report is with you.

I would have wished to elaborate further, certain sections of the contribution but under the circumstances I had to content myself with the most essential observations.

Needless to say that I am looking forward to hear your impressions, and to know how far the conclusions agree with yours. I think they do with minor variations which are of course inevitable if one thinks how large the site is and how one part of it may be different from another.
