[written sideways: Dear Dikaios, I am looking forward to your contribution to Enkomi - Alasia I, where are you? I shall be back in St. Germ. on May 27th and would like then to give soon the msc to the printer. Can I expect your article then? Very agreable and interesting tour in the States, since end of March. I got a letter from Forrer about the bronze hoard given by Stylianou to the Louvre. He informs me that you intend to retain for the Nic. Mus. several pieces. If you do so, I would prefer in order to keep the find together, that you take the lot and that it will be put on my credit account with the Museum for the next division. Of course, we would need the donor's permission. These bronzes have been many years available to the Museum, which, as far as I am informed from the donor did not want them. - Now, as they are given to the Louvre, they should go there as an undivided group in accordance with the intention of the donor. I also would like you to suspend all cleaning of the bronzes of this hoard as well as of the bronzes]
of my dig in Enkomi until my return when we can decide together what must been cleaned of the patina and what could remain as it is. Please give my best regards to your wife Yours sincerely C F A Schaeffer. Princeton, N.Y. USA 17.IV.50.
