...I have made a flying visit to Alexandria to check his [illegible] of Mycenaean pottery. This [illegible] ... [illegible] ... Lowest Levels on the Mycenaean [illegible] ... the end of the 13th century occurs in the Lowest Levels on the site, and that there one or two earlier Mycenaean tombs have been found they are [illegible] ... are opened up from time to time.
It seems then that the building contemporary with the 13th-14th century tombs and in the Alasia correspondence should be sought in another part of the site.
[illegible] ... book on the two chapters which [illegible] will be finished before he leaves on 15th April for the archaeological conference in Florence.
[illegible] ... is leaving on the 27th March. We are giving him a further £25 from your account to help his exploration... He makes a total of £95 advanced to him. He asked this as a cheque which you will find in a recent letter you were [illegible] ... to send.
Second Excavation house. The tenders for the construction of the two rooms are in. The lowest were two for £110 and £140 for construction in stone (to be supplied by in Limassol) ... (to be supplied by him). I think it is only fair that we should pay half the cost as we are going to use the house as much as you. Your share will therefore be £70. After paying [illegible] the £25 he requires [illegible] ... a sum of about £15 in your account. So if you send us the cheque you had intended to send him all will be well.
I am off to Egypt for 3 weeks to join Mr Gee's University of Alexandria digs at Kom el Dikka, where Hellenistic and Roman ... Ptolemaic problems. [illegible] I shall be back before ... Leves and will send off his [illegible] ... I have read them together with my own very small one.
