Mr F. Neumann Financial Department Dir.Gén.des Relations Culturelles Paris
Dear Sir,
You kindly arranged, from the balance of the 1946 excavation credit, for a provisional sum of 600 English pounds (cont. to 288.000 frs) to be sent to the Enkomi Mission (Barklays Bank, Famagusta, current account Cn.C.F.A.Schaeffer). I accordingly informed the French Consul in Malta by the letter of which a copy is enclosed, a letter you kindly countersigned.
The Barkleyrs Bank has just informed me that this sum has still not arrived. The land purchases, of which under the agreement we must pay half, are therefore halted, which casts doubt on the success of our research this year.
You recall the difficulties caused by the evident ill will of the Consul in question on the occasion of an earlier transfer. It would therefore be useful for you to send him new and present instructions so that he forwards the sum in question to Famagusta.
Thank you in advance and very sincerely yours
