Dear friend,

I thank you very much for your letter of 19 November 1945. I much regretted that you had been obliged to postpone the start of your campaign to the spring but the result will perhaps be no less satisfactory. Engomi is much pleasanter in the spring and in the month of March the peasants have almost nothing to do. They do nothing but wait for harvest time!

I see that you have a fairly full programme for 1946. Here the credits do not seem to be arriving in abundance, and so I still cannot think of my own researches. But I hope that I will nevertheless be able to carry out a short excavation campaign in the spring. I will content myself with some additional work with a view to reaching the results necessary for the publication of the material already excavated.

I shall be very happy to discuss with you the chronology of Cyprus. Meanwhile I shall have published some preliminary articles on the most recent discoveries, and so the discussion will have the advantage of your comments.
