Dear friend,

I thank you very much for your letter of 15 June 1944 written from Algiers. I have already replied officially regarding your request to have the site of Engomi reserved for the Ras Shamra Mission and I hope that my letter has reached you.

We were very happy to have had you with us during your short stay in Cyprus. It was a very pleasant surprise.

I am delighted at the thought that you will return to Cyprus to resume your research as soon as circumstances permit. I therefore look forward to the news promised in your letter with great interest.

I think that soon you will return to Paris liberated, and that your next letter will be written from your charming house in St Germain.

Please remember us kindly to Madame Schaeffer, and accept the expression of my best sentiments.

Handwritten: Yours cordially.
