Monsieur Claude F.A.Schaeffer,

LARNACA

Monsieur,

By letter of 16 August received yesterday evening you kindly informed me of your forthcoming arrival in Cyprus and asked me to place at your disposal at the Barclays Bank in Nicosia the sum of £ 750 to be drawn against the credit of £ 2500 opened in this name by the Direction Générale des Relations Culturelles.

In reply I have the honour to inform you that by telegram of the 20th inst. Monsieur the Consul of France at Malta has let me know that he has just written from the Barclays Bank at Malta to the Barclays Bank at Nicosia to my order two sums: £ 275 and £ 42, that is in fact £ 250 in total which I must hand over to you on your request less the bank's charges.

To avoid issuing multiple receipts and trips back and forth between Nicosia and Larnaca I have written today to the Management of the Barclay's Bank at Nicosia to hold this credit at your disposal. I would be grateful if you would kindly agree to sign a receipt for this sum (in triplicate) at the time when you take responsibility for it.

I am sending a copy of this letter to Mr Dikaios so that if this letter should not reach you at Ankara, you will be informed immediately on your arrival.

Please accept, Monsieur, the assurance of my very high consideration.
