Dear Megaw,

I have now studied the practical and material questions with reference to Dikaios' report.

According to your letter of 8 February 1949, Dikaios'
contribution was estimated to amount to approximately:
Text (size Missions en Chypre) pages30
Text figures (included in text)6
plates (separate), maximum10.
The completed report contains: 366 pages of text giving between
pages180-200
text figures3
plates75
maps, all of them folders11.

Of course the text could be shortened, especially the 150 pages of description of plates, but not very substantially. Having been delayed more than a year, the report will, I am afraid, have to be altered, and more delay will ensue. On the other hand, the size of Dikaios' report throws the whole first volume out of balance.

In order not to delay the material which is ready, and also to cope with the expanded size of whatever will be Dikaios' final version of his report, I propose to you the following solution:

We could now give the printer the material ready: 1) my studies on the material of seasons 1946, 1947 and most of 1949; M. Dussaud's study on the identification with Alasia. 2) Coche de la Ferté's report on the mycenaen pottery. This would amount to two volumes, volume I and II of the final publication of the combined expedition. These two volumes will of course, be financed entirely by the French Expedition. Each volume will contain a comprehensive resumé in English. I include a sample of the title-pages.

Dikaios' report could then form the volume III of the combined expedition with a preface by myself, an introduction by you as general leader of the Government of Cyprus' participation to the expedition and a French resumé at the end. This volume would have to be financed by you.

As long as Dikaios' report in English was supposed to be
