admit that it came from the offerings of the well and that it was brought to the level where it lay as a result of infiltration.
During the second period of use, an exceptionally large number of bodies were introduced into the tomb, some apparently simultaneously. Their skeletons lay one sulon the other. Thirty-five skeletons could be counted. Most were deposited without any pottery grave goods. The surviving offerings are surprisingly rare. If they really belong to the period of the second use (1612), the latter must have reached the beginning of the Bronze Late. For among these objects there are bilbils of a type early (base ring ware I), small bottles of yellowish earth with a pointed body (bobbin-shaped), an ivory rod with a head in the shape of a pomegranate (1613). To judge from the finds similar at Ras Shamra, these objects must be attributed to the period between 1600 and 1450. There seems to be u however an exception: the jug Nno.59 of the red on black type; unfortunately, it is impossible to identify this vessel with certainty from the reproduction (1614). Its presence however recalls the vessels of the same type met with in the corresponding layer of the tomb 14 (see below).
The layer with the thirty-five skeletons was covered by a deposit of earth containing several skeletons in disorder and without grave goods. The excavators connect them with the collective burials of the preceding layer and admit that they were moved during the arrangement of the tomb for its last use. To this end, two layers of earth and sand brought in were spreades. On this area, eighteen other burials had been laid out, accompanied by hemispherical bowls with a scale pattern painted in brown on a whitish ground called white slip ware IV, of Mycenaean vases and other types pottery (1615) of the middle of Late Cypriot 2 (1450-1350).
According to this analysis, the construction of tomb 8 of Ajios Jakovos and the burials of the lower level took place certainly in the Middle Cypriot II (1900-1750) or at the beginning
