Dear friend, this note to acknowledge receipt of your envelope and the roll. Your com. is a little long. But by removing all the compliments you pay me (and which gave me great pleasure and which you can restore in the publication) as well as the final § rel. to the 2 statuettes attributed to Enkomi which will only overshadow the large one and may lend themselves to discussion rel. to the provenance, I manage to keep your text within the prescribed limits, which must be respected in this old house of the Institute. First again, congratulations. Then a few questions on which I ask you to enlighten me by return for the communication. 1. The surface of the statue in the photo is as if clogged, is it the original patina or has the latter been protected by you with wax or other temporary coating? 2. The object you describe as a harp has the typical form of a sickle in bronze of this period of which we have found replicas votive, also miniature size, at R. Shamra. I do not think it is a harp which, even misunderstood, could not have this form.
