Under the heels, two square-section tang swords indicate the use of a pedestal for the handto hold it firmly upright; if we have not yet uncovered a pedestal, it is not impossible that later we may reconstitute it; it had an earlier plafonier in that case we would find the reason for the existence of this later wall.
The proportions of the human body are rendered with an exceptional purity and the musculature is accentuated. The face is of great delicacy, with the outline of a slight smile; the nose is straight and the eyes almond-shaped. It is not difficult to recognise in the profile of the God a certain resemblance to that of the Mother-Goddess on the Mycenaean ivory from Minetel-Beïda found by Mr Schaeffer. The straight profile and the carved surface are characteristics that we find in the two characteristic pieces which can only be attributed to Mycenaean influences: see the remarks of Mr Dussaud in his work "Les découvertes de Ras-Shamra et l'Ancien Testament" 2nd ed. on the subject of the ivory of Minet-el-Beïda.
