Government and authority to expend up to £2000 in the Enkomi excavations in 1947. This expenditure will be distributed as set out in the appendix.

8. The form of publication to be adopted for recording the results of the joint-expedition's work, as regards both preliminary and final reports, would be a matter for consultation and agreement between the two parties in due course. In the agreed publication programme all reports, including any issued separately by either party, would be issued in the name of the joint-expedition. In any joint publication Dr.Schaeffer and Mr. Dikaios should be named in that order as joint authors on behalf/ of the respective parti - cipants.

Handwritten: French retain / to order / not separately

9. The Department would agree in principle to share with the French Mission the cost of the publication of the results of the joint-expedition's work, the amount payable being proportionate to Mr.Dikaios' contributions. The necessary funds would be sought from the Cyprus Government when the need arose, independently from funds required for the excavations. A condition of such grant towards publication costs would be that an appropriate number of copies of the relative publications would be placed at the disposal of the Department.
