Dear Braidwood,

I wish to reply immediately to your letter dated Dec. 17th concerning M. Dyson. You know how favorable I look upon those internships of students and that I would consider with pleasure his participation at our excavations.

However the Syrian Antiquities Service wants to know beforehand every member of an expedition working on a Syrian dig and I know they are, at present, hostile to members of american or english origin.

This difficulty would not arise at Enkomi in Cyprus where I expect to dig [handwritten: next] this year either before or after Rasthamra for a month. You know now the results in Ill. L.N. or my book, a copy of which was sent for review to the N.E. Journal. If a participation on the lines suggested by you of M. D. at Enkomi would interest him, please tell him to write me later, when we are nearer to the dates (after march April 1953) of the dig. He may let me know his age, photographic and current vitae in a few words.-

I hope you are all well and enjoy happy & energetically the new year.

Sincerely yours
