I means that the room concerned was not reused following the destruction.
The marked indications of conflagration in room XII is due to the existence of a hearth in this room from which the superstructure caught fire when it collapsed. In the eastern part of the room the layer of ashes was in immediate contact with the floor and the hearth ( infra p.......) , but here we have a layer of burnt mudbricks overlying the floor , evidently from the upper part of the west wall of the room appearing in square E-Z 18.
The stratification in room VI A is unlike that in the adjoining room VI, which appears in the previous section. The reason for this is that these rooms, although at one time united, were originally separated by a partition which was later abolished, and that in room VI A there was a well(?) , the mouth of which was covered with a large slab. It is interesting to notice that the layers immediately overlying the first floor encountered consist of ashes and fallen pisé debris which seem to give further evidence of the catastrophe
