Gjerstad (1) considered this proto-white painted was to be the pottery of the later Achaean colonists pressed by the Dorian invasions. But we now have concrete evidence of that later wave of immigration in the form, not of proto-white painted pottery, but of the Mycenean IIIC: 1 c and IIIC: 1 class found in the late stages of Enkomi, in substantial quantities. The protowhite painted is the immediate successor of this pottery and should be considered as the result of evolution in the more settled conditions which followed the establishment of full Achaean ascendancy.
Another point of importance arising from the attribution of our building in its original form to earlier Achaean colonists, who came to Cyprus at the beginning of the twelfth century, is the correspondence in date with the literary traditions that Greek heroes at the end of the Trojan war, founded several towns in Cyprus. Among these traditions is that of Teucer's foundation of Salamis of which we find archaeological confirmation at nearby Enkomi, where we also have evidence of another wave of Achaean colonists some 100 /years
