In this reconst ruction modifications were made in our building, including the conversion to ritual use of an area previously domestic (v. Infra .....). It was during the period which followed the reconstruction that the decorated LCIII ware flourished, which suggests that the destruction was due to some raid by people who came from the Syro-Palestinian coast and possibly settled temporarily in the Island.(1) Later however at the end of the twelfth or beginning of the eleventh century B.C. further Achaeans, pressed by the Dorians, arrived in force and, changing one more the course of events, established that ascendancy of the which/earliest Iron Age pottery (proto-white painted) is so eloquent.
