12-13 m. appears the wall separating the original room II from the central room III; this wall also rests on the bedrock. In square H-Θ 22 between approximately the same levels we have the wall originally separating the central room (III) from the east room (VI) also resting on the bedrock. These two walls form the limits of the central room (III) in the original layout. Later, however , following floor V, the architectural arrangement of these rooms was altered. The two screen walls forming the limits of room III were abolished, their upper parts having been removed (1) and a new screen wall, the one appearing in square Θ - I 22, was built between the two previous ones. Thus instead of three rooms , one large at the centre and two small side ones, there resulted two rooms one large on the east and one smaller on the west. That this was so is also proved by the floors which in the new large eastern room extend unbroken from the east wall of the building to the newly-built screen wall in square Θ-I 22, although here
(1). Of the screen wall between room III and VI only the southern part was abolished.
