the scheme so whole-heartedly . Mr. Megaw has been a source of constant encouragement to me and has always followed the work with keen interest and sympathy which were most valuable to us all. He has also spent much time in discussing with me the architectural and other problems, read this report and made numerous valuable suggestions, for which I am more than grateful. I have also drawn much profit from various discussions with Dr. Schaeffer who went over with me the area we had excavated, when he returned to Cyprus in the autumn of 1949 for his third Enkomi season.
Professor A.J.B. Wace was kind enough to spend much time on examining some of the more typical Mycenean pottery which I brought to him on a visit to Alexandria in March 1950, when I had the great privilege of discussing with him various points chronological and other.
