… independent room with further subdivisions (rooms XII a, b and V). The part of the area between walls 22 and 26 a was turned into a large eastern room the roof of which was supported by six posts along its long axis and a narrow eastern room (?) or passage (Pl.XI.2). This arrangement lasted until the time of the catastrophe (earthquake) at the time of floor II, following which room XII was abandoned but the two rooms north of wall 22 were re-occupied after subdivision into smaller units: XVIII, XIX, XX covering the large eastern room and XVII, XVI, XXVIII covering the narrow western room or passage.
Summary of the description of the architectural remains. The foregoing description shows that the buildings in the compound uncovered by these excavations occupied from north to south one block of the town's street grid and may be considered as several units which, although distinct, formed part of a single undertaking. The central part, which forms the core, is a large tripartite building (the Main Building), almost at the centre of the excavated / area.
