… unit of the Main Building. East of this room is a larger rectangular unit (XXII+XXIV) perhaps subdivided, while on the west we have a third, narrower room (XXX+XXXI). However the west wall (37) of room XXX does not stand on the rock but on a floor which is at the same level as floor V in the central part of the Main Building and it is therefore clear that originally in this area there was a large room and later, possibly following the conflagration, it was reduced by the construction of wall 37. How much larger it was we are not yet able to say as along the west side of wall 37 runs a later road which has been left in situ. This road was built up on the floor of the original room on which the rearrangements took place. This road was then made at the time of the alterations and corroborates the evidence previously mentioned that the street system round the building was revised after the conflagration. It would then appear that originally this too was a symmetrical tripartite building with a narrow room in the centre and large rooms on either side.
