… part of the room and turning it into a closed unit. The eastern partition wall was of rubble while the western one had a lower part of rubble and an upper of pisé and mudbricks. Furthermore a third partition wall was built across the middle of the newly created room thus subdividing the latter into two small units [handwritten: illegible annotations] (IX & X). An elevation EE showing these new partition walls appears on Pl.VII.4. Access to room IX was possible through the doorway in the west wall which simultaneously with the other re-arrangements was widened. The north doorjamb was composed of two blocks which were carelessly chipped from previously dressed blocks. The external of these two doorjambs fell away at the time of the catastrophe on floor II together with the pisé superstructures of the walls (see square IK, 14 on elevation EE Pl.VII.4) and was found inclined as it had fallen (E on the same plate). Following the collapse a platform of stones (P on Pl.VII.4) including a thick slab was erected thus sealing the collapsed doorjamb and the thick layer of decomposed pisé which give evidence of the catastrophe (Pl.XIV.8).
