Please give Dikaios to understand if my sometimes harsh corrections should hurt him, that it is the reaction of a scholar whose main result of a research work of years has suddenly been torpedoed by a newcomer he has invited to his field, without warning and after having received from Mr [handwritten: Dr] letters, which _confirmed the basic chronology and interpretation of the character of the site._

Please read carefully my objections with a copy of Dikaios' report and copies of his plans in front of you.

I can measure Dikaios' disappointment, he has certainly worked hard and long on his report. But unfortunately his mistakes was made at the basis of his stratigraphy and the consequences are those felt throughout the rest.

Dikaios I dare say, is here on a cross road of his career. If his report were published in the present form, the judgement [handwritten: 7] about his experience and attitude [handwritten: as] a scholar would be I am afraid, very severe and unfavourable. No mistake in stratigraphy and chronology remains unanswered. Our research at Enkomi will go on and soon the necessary data for deciding who is right, Dikaios or I, will be available.

Having the overall scientific responsability about the work at Enkomi, site discovered by me, I certainly will leave nothing undone to help scientific truth to prevail.

I await your and Dikaios answer soon. The printer is asking for the manuscript and has already part of the volume in his hands.

I am taking the boat on Sept. 6th and could be in the island before end of that month.

Yours sincerely,

His article on the Statue also can stand as it is.
