bulls heads and fill ornament. The cup is a very close parallel to the one found by Persson in the royal or so called royal tomb of Dendra ( The Roy. Tombs of Dendra, Lund, 1931, plates XII – XV / <br> mm handle also. Ours cup is still better preserved. I shall bring you the photographs over. The report of Pl. will be inserted in my volume.
If the silver cup in which this one has been found has not been cleaned yet, plean leave it in its original state. Plenderleith asked me to look for some details first.
Now, the present director of the B.M. asks me through Pl. wether the Mus. may be allowed to exhibit the cup for a short time before returning it. I answered that I would like to counsel you on this matte. My feeling is that we should agree to an exhibition for a fortnight or a months under the express condition that steps be taken to ensure that the cup may not be copied or photographed by another archaeologist during the exhibition. The label could be: Silver cup inlaid with gold found in an intact tomb at Enkomi in 1949. Excavations of the Franco-British Combined Expedition to Enkomi, with C.F.A. Schaeffer in charge.
Perhaps you could reply to T.E. Kendrick directly if you share my view about his proposal. There is one more point: I would like to see the cup either London or Paris before its returns to Nicosia. I hope there will be a possibility to send it by air & display directly to you after that.
Yours sincerely C.F.A. Schaeffer
