[handwritten: €] 3/ General considerations on the public building.
The purpose of this public building is suggested by the monumental and careful character of its architecture, the disposition of the plan with vestibule and cella to the East, provided with a threshold and an altar, as well as by the furnishings: bovid horn, fragment of a carved ivory sphinx, bronze jewellery, pieces of gold, fragment of a stylised terracotta figurine and of a vessel in the form of a bull, carved stone bird; it can hardly be a question of anything other than a temple.
Recent campaigns have moreover cleared, about thirty metres to the North, a sanctuary of the same orientation and arranged in the same way in the north-east corner of a crossroads. The offerings of bovid horns are a common feature of the three temples excavated so far at Enkomi. Unfortunately for the one cleared in 1955, the proximity of the present ground surface has caused the almost complete disappearance of the objects it should have contained, and has left only fragments of its fine layout.

The finds made to the West of the North-South street will be described going from South to North.
[handwritten: €] A/ Corridor along the East-West street.
To the North of a wall running along the second East-West street, there is a corridor 1,50 to 2 m. wide, in which were piled up numerous jars broken in place, as well as an olive-shaped weight of bone, with a place for a tare (?) (Pt. 82, 1,30m) and a steatite seal in the form of a dome (Pt. 88).
[handwritten: €] B/ Room to the West of the temple vestibule.
To the West of the temple, separated by the width of the street, extends a long hall 5 m. East-West by some ten metres North-South, bounded by a thick wall to the West and a more modest wall to the North; on the side of the street, some blocks are perhaps the remains of a wall. The stratigraphy recalls that encountered in the vestibule, with two floors.
